On 12 March 2027 Scala & Kolacny Brothers will perform at the Trixxo Theater in Hasselt. The choir project from Aarschot, founded in 1996, centers on a women's choir led by Stijn Kolacny, with his brother Steven at the piano and responsible for the arrangements. Their signature: pop, rock and indie songs stripped down into fragile, sustained choral pieces where multiple voices lift the melody and the piano outlines the lines. Tempos often remain restrained, harmonies shift subtly, and it is precisely in that space that each song gains a different weight.

Scala built an international audience with idiosyncratic choral versions of Radiohead, Nirvana, Depeche Mode and U2, usually in English, sometimes in French or German. Their worldwide breakthrough came when their rendition of "Creep" was heard in the trailer for The Social Network, followed by tours across Europe and North America, both in concert halls and at festivals. Live, everything revolves around the tension between silence and collective singing: no bombast, but a focus on text, timbre and timing. Expect choral reworkings that give familiar songs a new profile, carried by a single piano and a multi‑voiced ensemble.
