Info
The Roots Ensemble Festival will set up its speakers on 26 March 2027 at the Salle de l’Angelarde in Châtellerault. On the bill is a reggae, roots and dub lineup led by Dub Inc., Yaniss Odua and Ironleg.
Dub Inc. has carved out a unique place in French reggae by playing countless concerts over the years. The band blends reggae, dub and bursts of dancehall, with the complementary voices of Bouchkour and Komlan and lyrics in several languages. Their identity rests on an effective groove, clean arrangements and a collective dynamism driven by a tight rhythm section.
Between Martinique and mainland France, Yaniss Odua has been developing a reggae style since the 1990s that moves between roots and dancehall. He alternates between French and Creole, melodic singing and the energetic toasting style, with a repertoire that mixes social commentary and Caribbean accents. From Yon pa yon and Un autre soleil to Moment idéal and Stay High, his albums have refined this trajectory, anchored in a modern aesthetic without losing its roots soul.
Ironleg, who began on drums at a very young age before moving into urban music, combines singjay, singing and toasting in French. His reggae-dancehall foundation opens onto hip hop, trap, afrobeat, world music and soul. It’s a flexible, rhythmic blend designed to keep the energy flowing from start to finish.
