Info
St. Vincent, the project of Annie Clark, brings an orchestral set to Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto on July 1, 2026. Since the mid-2000s, she has traced a line between art rock, experimental pop and indie rock: angular guitars, meticulous arrangements and a writing style that leans toward irony. Early albums Marry Me and Actor introduced dense orchestration and melody under tension; Strange Mercy sharpened the contrast between pop lines and abrasive edges. St. Vincent and Masseduction pushed toward a more direct, synthetic sound, while Daddy’s Home looked to 70s rock and soul. With All Born Screaming, she returned to a nervier mix of industrial grit, electronics and front‑facing production.
With an orchestra on stage, these songs open onto wider colors: strings and brass sparring with fuzzed guitars, winds cushioning synths, voice carried by expanded harmonies. The set draws across her catalogue, with arrangements that keep the bite while letting the dynamics breathe.
