Celtic Legends

Celtic Legends celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2027 and will call at the Espace Mayenne in Laval on 17 February 2027. For this anniversary tour, the company returns with a new show that puts Irish dance back at the heart of the performance. Dancers, musicians and singers put together two hours of tableaux in which percussive footwork, ensemble numbers and solos answer one another, closely aligned with traditional rhythms.

Choreographies by Jacintha Sharpe play on contrasts: precise group formations, percussive steps and more melodic interludes. On the musical side, Sean McCarthy directs five instrumentalists in an acoustic line-up. Uilleann pipes, penny whistle, fiddle, bodhrán and guitar carry reels, jigs and ballads, performed entirely live in constant interplay with the action on stage.

Born on the road and shaped by the stage, Celtic Legends condenses twenty-five years of touring and inspiration into a tighter format that preserves the project’s DNA: company energy, an unadorned acoustic sound and a direct reading of Celtic standards. A living panorama of Ireland’s musical and choreographic traditions.
