Celtic Legends

Celtic Legends celebrates its 25th anniversary with a new commemorative show that puts Irish dance back at the centre of the stage. On 18 February 2027 at Le Liberté in Rennes, the company brings together dancers, musicians and singers for a dynamic staging where percussive footwork dialogues with live music. Jacintha Sharpe’s choreographies are conceived as a series of ensemble tableaux and solos, playing on lines, formations and the energy of percussive steps.

On the music side, five instrumentalists led by Sean McCarthy revisit reels, jigs and ballads on uilleann pipes, penny whistle, fiddle, bodhrán and guitar. Everything is performed live, without backing tracks, allowing the arrangements and the contrasts between percussive sequences and melodic breaths to breathe. Born on the road and having played stages around the world, the group retains a compact acoustic format that emphasises listening between stage and auditorium.

On stage, the alternation of tight groups, duos and solos raises the tempo and then releases it over the course of a roughly two-hour set. Between the precise striking of shoes and shaped dance lines, the show unfolds Celtic Legends’ DNA: a dance that pulses, music that guides, and a constant interplay between collective virtuosity and more intimate moments.
