On November 21, 2026, at Le 106 in Rouen, Death Valley Girls arrive with their rock straight from Los Angeles. Formed around Bonnie Bloomgarden in the mid-2010s, the band initially carved out a garage groove before widening their palette toward a more melodic psychedelia, nourished by punk, ’60s pop, glam and surf-tinged flourishes. From the shouted choruses of Street Venom and Glow in the Dark to the more ceremonial tension of Darkness Rains, keyboards and backing vocals have grown more prominent. On Under the Spell of Joy and then Islands in the Sky, the sound expands without abandoning a direct rock foundation. On stage they play head-on: saturated guitars, straight-ahead rhythms, repeated motifs, with Bonnie’s voice as the guiding thread.
Opening the bill, Bella and the Bizarre, a Berlin garage-rock band, set the scene. Rough-edged riffs, tight, propulsive bass and no-frills drumming: a short, nervous set that gets straight to the point. Their raw, no-nonsense approach and unadorned melodies naturally echo the energy of Death Valley Girls, for an evening that moves between garage immediacy and psychedelic detours.
