Hiba Tawaji invites Ibrahim Maalouf to a staged meeting conceived as a face-to-face between voice and trumpet on 22 November 2026 at M.A.CH 36 in Déols. Trained in Beirut between conservatory study and stage experience, noticed by Oussama Rahbani and brought to francophone audiences through The Voice and Notre-Dame de Paris, Hiba Tawaji moves between Arabic repertoire and songs in French. Her soprano range and sense of storytelling carry listeners from pop with Levantine colours to more intimate atmospheres, sustained by careful arrangements.
Alongside her, Ibrahim Maalouf, a French-Lebanese trumpeter, blends contemporary jazz with Near Eastern heritage. His quarter-tone trumpet, improvisational background and taste for musical bridges create a distinctive counterpoint, alternately lyrical and rhythmic.
On stage the two artists weave a lively dialogue: melodies in Arabic and French mingle with the trumpet’s timbres, oriental motifs meet jazz inflections, between subtle tensions and moments of breathing space. The repertoire draws on Hiba’s signature songs and Maalouf’s themes, leaving room for spontaneous exchanges to arise. The concert is conceived for listeners curious about musical borders, where mutual rapport shapes the form more than spectacle.
