Tiwayo

Tiwayo performs a soul-blues rooted in the African-American tradition while retaining a distinctly French grounding. A singer, guitarist and songwriter shaped by both Paris and life on the road, he crafts songs at slow to mid tempos, with spare guitars and understated backing vocals, and pays careful attention to vocal melodies. His lyrics, in English, are direct and vivid, recounting journeys, doubts and everyday scenes. On stage he likes to adapt his arrangements to the venue—playing with an electric lineup or in more intimate duo or trio formats—to let the writing and the groove breathe. His debut album, The Gypsy Soul of Tiwayo (2019), established a world where soul, blues and rock intertwine, with occasional reggae inflections. Since then he has been refining that language through live performances, balancing restrained energy with subtlety.
