Info
On June 13, 2026, at the Sunset Sunside in Paris, Ben Sidran presents his quartet for a set at the crossroads of jazz, rhythm and blues and American songwriting. A pianist, singer, composer and producer born in Chicago and raised in Wisconsin, he has followed a singular course since the late 1960s—first noticed with the Steve Miller Band before launching his own recording career as early as 1971. On stage, his piano playing, steeped in bop and blues, lays down a supple groove, while his often half-spoken vocal phrasing gives the pieces a warm, narrative quality, sitting between vocal jazz, soul and singer‑songwriter craft.
With his quartet, Ben Sidran alternates original compositions and reworkings of the American repertoire. You can hear echoes of his landmark albums, from Free in America to Dylan Different and Blue Camus, and that way of circulating stories as much as harmonies—a legacy of his work as a writer and interviewer. The group favors economy of means, close interplay and flexible dynamics, allowing the lyrics, the swing and the melodic lines to breathe. An evening to experience up close a musician who effortlessly links tradition, groove and songwriting at the Sunset Sunside.
