Résidence - Magik Malilk Quartet Xp

On April 18, 2026, at Le Baiser Salé in Paris, Magic Malik takes the stage in Quartet XP mode, a more compact iteration of his Magic Malik Orchestra. A flautist and composer who passed through Abidjan, Guadeloupe and then metropolitan France, Malik Mezzadri here brings his collective work as close as possible to the sound, with precise rhythmic writing, fluid arrangements and spaces wide open to improvisation. His flute, at the center of the music, slips between contemporary jazz, Afro-Caribbean pulses and funk echoes, tracing lines that intertwine, answer one another and propel the group.

Conceived as an ensemble space rather than as a showcase for a soloist, the Orchestra in its Quartet XP version relies on polyrhythms, offset unisons and the tensions between composition and the present moment. The set alternates finely carved motifs and free-flowing passages, with a way of letting the groove drift toward more experimental forms without losing collective momentum.
