Info
Between synthpop, minimal wave and post-punk, Nation of Language crafts an electronic pop marked by a melodic texture and unapologetic nostalgia. Driven by the precise songwriting and distinctive voice of Ian Richard Devaney, and supported by the synths of Aidan Noell and Alex MacKay, the New York trio weaves luminous pads, taut basslines and crisp rhythms, with new wave echoes that nod to New Order without being confined to it. The songs move between tension and softness, clear choruses and a twilight mood, in a balance that defines their signature.
Emerging with Introduction and Presence and refined on A Way Forward, the band consolidated its trajectory with Strange Disciple before opening a new chapter with Dance Called Memory. This set will spotlight those recent tracks while revisiting a repertoire designed for the stage—between cold pulses, vibrant synths and chiaroscuro melodies. Nation of Language will be at Rock School Barbey on June 24, 2026, for a concert that captures their way of turning urban melancholy into restrained, immediate anthems.
