Zoufris Maracas

Zoufris Maracas are at Espace Julien in Marseille on 29 October 2026. Devotees of a French chanson that rubs up against music without borders, the band blends kaleidoscopic guitars, roaming rhythms and choruses that make you want to move while depicting the world as it is. Their trademark: precise lyrics, a freedom of tone and a knack for making serious subjects dance, somewhere between social chronicle and wandering poetry. They are often compared to La Mano Negra or Les Négresses Vertes, but they carve out their own path, driven by collective energy and a taste for sonic cross-pollination. With four albums and more than 700 concerts to their name, they’ve sharpened a tight set in which the brass answers the guitars and the backing vocals bring people together without slogans. On stage the songs grow in scope, shifting from a battered rumba to a stripped-down ballad, then drifting toward Africa, the Caribbean or Europe’s ports. A live show that speaks as much to the body as to the mind.
