Info
On August 2, 2026, at the Théâtre de la Mer in Sète, Ballaké Sissoko and Piers Faccini present an acoustic duo in which the kora meets folk guitar and a composed, measured voice. The dialogue is built from motifs that unfold, respond to one another and intertwine. Between Manding themes and original songs, the material circulates, modes intersect, silences breathe, and the pieces open up with touches of improvisation.
Ballaké Sissoko, a Malian musician from a lineage of djélis (griots), makes the kora speak through arpeggios, ostinatos and counter-melodies, like a thread that links narrative and melody. Opposite him, Piers Faccini, an Anglo‑Italian singer and guitarist based in the Cévennes, moves between folk, acoustic blues and Mediterranean hues, with restrained melodic writing and spare arrangements. Together they trace a path between the Sahel and the Mediterranean—an intimate music that relies on mutual listening and precise timbres, giving each instrument the space to establish its motif and reply to the other.
