Rooted in Copenhagen’s punk scene, Elias Rønnenfelt first emerged in the early 2010s as the singer and lyricist of Iceage, where raw punk gradually opened to darker post-punk shades and more melodic turns across the records. In parallel, he pushed other routes with Marching Church, stretching songs into looser forms steeped in jazz touches, gothic colors and a taste for improvisation, and with Vår, leaning toward industrial and cold-wave influences. Under his own name, Rønnenfelt continues that exploration with stripped-back pieces driven by voice and text, a taut minimalism that keeps one foot in post-punk and experimental territories. Active on independent stages across Europe and North America, he shifts between band, collective and solo formats, constantly nudging the edges of his writing and live presence.
