Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Kilowatt in Vitry‑sur‑Seine, Groundation opens the evening. Born in California in the late 1990s, the collective led by Harrison Stafford has shaped a roots reggae threaded with jazz improvisation, polished vocal harmonies and finely honed instrumental arrangements. On stage, the band stretches forms, lets brass, keyboards and guitars answer one another, and gives voice to lyrics nourished by spirituality and social concerns. Albums such as Hebron Gate, Here I Am and The Next Generation, recognized in Jamaica, laid the foundations of a distinctive sound, built for live performance and improvisation.
Queen Omega appears with The Royal Souls. Hailing from Trinidad and Tobago, the singer has spent two decades forging a path where roots reggae, Caribbean inflections and touches of jazz and soul blend with committed songwriting. Her vocal palette, from measured singing to more urgent climaxes, unfolds across her classics and on Freedom Legacy, released in 2023 after a studio hiatus. This new‑roots record, sitting between reggae and dancehall, speaks of women’s freedom and autonomy with direct lyrics and flexible rhythms. In concert, the band highlights these new tracks without forgetting the songs that made her known.
Parisian duo Jahneration, Théo and Ogach, rounds out the bill. Since 2009 they have blended reggae, hip‑hop and digital influences, a sound refined through trips to Jamaica and collaborations with Naâman, Alborosie and Manu Chao. Three albums and more than 400 shows later, their formula alternates sung choruses and rapped flows, between sunlit vibes and more urgent tempos. On stage, the live band amplifies the productions and creates a unifying atmosphere, made for an audience that loves to sing as much as to be carried along.
