Killswitch Engage lead the Burt Block Party on August 13, 2026 at Burton Cummings Theatre in Winnipeg. Formed in 1999 out of the Massachusetts hardcore scene, the band blends thrash-leaning riffs, hardcore grit and melodic guitar work, shifting between harsh shouts and clean vocals. Their early releases — a self-titled debut in 2000 and Alive or Just Breathing in 2002 — sketched a metalcore framework of drop-tuned chugs, heavy breakdowns and clear melodic lines. The End of Heartache (2004) and As Daylight Dies (2006) carried that approach onto bigger stages, while the handover between Jesse Leach and Howard Jones defined distinct chapters. With Leach back, Disarm the Descent (2013), Incarnate (2016) and Atonement (2019) tightened the balance between weight and melody without losing edge. On stage, expect tight dynamics, harmonized leads and a set that threads early staples with newer cuts, paced for the pulse of a summer block party.
