Info

On May 14, 2026, at Mains d’Œuvres in Saint-Ouen, Pharmakon takes the stage. Pharmakon is the project of New York artist Margaret Chardiet, which began in 2006 when she was 16; it moves between noise, power electronics and industrial, with an approach rooted in the New York underground that has been refined over the years.

Chardiet develops a physical approach to sound. On stage, the voice becomes a raw instrument; electronic material is pushed to its limits, with saturation, feedback and pulsations serving as vectors. The body and the space are integrated into the setup, up close to the audience, for a confrontational performance that shifts the usual points of reference.

After five years without a release, Pharmakon returned in 2024 with Maggot Mass on Sacred Bones Records, marking a new transformation for the project. Traces of industrial and punk become more distinct there, without abandoning the experimental exploration or the cathartic dimension that runs through her work. In concert, this recent phase tightens her sonic vocabulary, between driving rhythmic assaults, abrasive textures and exposed vocals.
