Pharmakon

Pharmakon, the noise/industrial project of New Yorker Margaret Chardiet, will perform at the Molotov in Marseille on 19 May 2026. Launched at 16 and forged in the Brooklyn DIY scene, the project advances through bodily contact: raw, exposed vocals, synths, distortion and abrasive textures mingle with repetitive pulses that compress the space. On stage, Chardiet conceives the live set as an immersive, confrontational device, where everything unfolds at close range to the audience. The aim is not a display of virtuosity but a physical transfer of self-mastery, seized head-on and projected back into the room.

Through releases on Sacred Bones — Abandon, Bestial Burden, Contact, Devour — Pharmakon explores themes related to the body, illness and the relationship between the individual and the collective. A fixture of the underground circuit and veteran of several punk bands, Chardiet shifts her practice between concerts, collaborations and commissioned work, extending to film with original music for Transfiguration and Sound of Metal. A guest artist will join the bill to round out this date.
