Melt-Banana, Pneu

Info

On 14 June 2026 at La Coopérative de Mai, Clermont-Ferrand, Melt-Banana and Pneu share the bill for a frontal, instrumental face-off. Formed in Tokyo in the early 1990s, Melt-Banana revolves around Yasuko Onuki’s razor-sharp voice and Ichiro Agata’s cutting guitar. The band built its language on short tracks, brutal syncopations and dissonant riffs, sitting between noise rock, hardcore and experimental music. Largely a duo on stage since the 2010s, Melt-Banana relies on programmed rhythmic elements without losing impact, maintaining a constant back-and-forth between dry energy, sonic density and meticulously precise details.

Born in Tours in the mid-2000s, Pneu is a drums-and-guitar duo forged for direct attack. An instrumental rock project with noise and math-influenced lines, it advances through ruptures, repeated motifs and compact structures. After a long recording hiatus, the band hit the road again with the album Get Old Or Die Tryin’ in 2024, where textures harden and open up to electronic treatments. On stage, Pneu condenses tension and velocity into a very physical rhythmic framework, conceived for proximity and movement.
