Info
On March 16, 2026, at Hafenklang in Hamburg, Federale from Portland will bring their cinematic Western vision to the stage. For two decades, songwriter and bandleader Collin Hegna (also of The Brian Jonestown Massacre) has shaped this mutable collective at the intersection of spaghetti‑western soundtracks, psychedelia and Americana. Their current sixth album, Reverb and Seduction, further expands the sound: alongside twang and reverb, distorted guitars, dark choirs and gothic hues emerge, with echoes of Lee Hazlewood, late Leonard Cohen, Love and Rockets and Sisters of Mercy. Federale work in images: slow percussion, leaden trumpets, far‑reverberating guitars and narrative vocal arrangements coalesce into scenes without dialogue. In its most recent lineup the band brings together players from the Portland scene (including The Shivas, Roselit Bone, The Dandy Warhols, Rogue Wave and The Delines) and relies in concert on tense shifts between instrumentals and dramatic songs.
Also on the bill: Megan Diana, who unfolds her self‑conceived dream‑country‑disco universe. Wurlitzer 200A through echo and delay, shimmering pedal steel, retro‑focused grooves, over warm vocals and layers of French horn. Between the songs of her debut, Women in My Head, and its follow‑up, Cabin Fever, she blends dusty Americana hues with a gentle disco suspension — minimal, hypnotic and devoted to melody.
