Echoing Travelogues: The Beyond and Us arrives on 6 May 2026 at Musis Arnhem. Led by Amsterdam composer and performer Emine Bostancı, this project examines how travel and migration reverberate through musical and cultural identities. Inspired by centuries of encounters between Ottoman, Persian and European worlds, historical music is approached as a route to self-understanding. As the musicians follow the traces of earlier travelers and diplomats, the same question keeps returning: we set out to meet the other, but what we hear and see often reflects our own story.
Together with Holland Baroque, Bostancı creates a musical travelogue in which tradition, new compositions and arrangements touch and inform one another. She lets the boundaries between eras and styles shift; the ensemble counters this with a baroque sound that makes space for encounter. Melodies and rhythms move between East and West, between notation and oral transmission. The result is a listening journey in which heritage and personal questions sit side by side, and in which the movement of travel itself becomes audible.
