On 26 October 2026 Fresku and the Metropole Orkest will arrive at Muziekgebouw Eindhoven for a joint show in which rap and orchestra look each other squarely in the eye. Fresku, who grew up between Eindhoven and Curaçao, brings his Dutch-language rap—full of humour, sharp observations and a drive to tell stories—into a larger sonic world. His lyrics about identity, fatherhood and the friction between public persona and private life gain additional layers of colour and tension here. It’s material he has honed since his debut: from introspection and satire to moments that fall utterly silent. In his hometown that mix can land even more directly.
The Metropole Orkest, which for decades has moved between jazz, pop and film music, places Fresku’s repertoire in an orchestral setting without losing rhythm or punch. With a rhythm section that evokes a big band and a wide string palette, the orchestra can groove tightly and then expand into warm harmonies. Expect arrangements that give the flow room to breathe, brass that sharpens accents and strings that underscore the narrative. Not embellishment, but a dialogue: Fresku’s voice up front, the orchestra as cinematic backdrop that further opens up his stories.
