Satsang

On 9 September 2026 Satsang will perform at Patronaat in Haarlem. The project of singer-songwriter Drew McManus, rooted in rugged Montana, moves between folk, roots rock and soul, with traces of reggae and hip-hop. The songs focus on introspection, secular spirituality, the bond with nature and questions of personal and collective responsibility.

Debut The Story of You (2016) set the tone with acoustic guitars, smooth grooves and phrasing that occasionally leans toward spoken word. With Pyramids (2017) Satsang expanded into a full band; Kulture (2019) and All. Right. Now. (2020) introduced more American roots influences, choir-like choruses and midtempo rhythms. Flowers From The Fray (2022), largely written in the Montana mountains, marks a return to a more intimate sound.

Live, Satsang performs as a band centered on McManus, alternating between electric and more acoustic arrangements. The focus is on concise songs with space for groove and vocal harmonies, with the lyrics remaining the compass. Support acts will be announced later.
