Info
On 14 June 2026 Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit will play SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen. Around singer-songwriter Jason Isbell, once a member of Drive-By Truckers, a band formed in the late 2000s that bridges Muscle Shoals and Nashville. The collective blends Americana, alt-country and southern rock, with songs that feel close and touch on today’s tensions, backed by a sturdy rhythm section and guitars that can sound both warm and incisive.
Since the self-titled 2009 album and Here We Rest (2011), the group has been building a catalogue in which storytelling is central. With The Nashville Sound (2017) and Reunions (2020), produced with Dave Cobb, the palette broadened: electric textures alongside folk-tinged colors, compact arrangements that leave room for voice and narrative. Weathervanes (2023) continues that line with melodic, narrative rock that can unfurl in a live setting.
On stage the band seeks the tension between intimacy and drive: harmonies that latch on, guitar lines that challenge one another, and lyrics that linger. Expect a set that travels through their various records, from spare ballads to more robust peaks, rooted in the Southern song tradition and in conversation with contemporary Nashville.
