Info

On September 4, 2026, The Black Keys will perform at AFAS Live in Amsterdam. The duo from Akron, Ohio — Dan Auerbach (guitar, vocals) and Patrick Carney (drums) — has evolved since the lo-fi early days of The Big Come Up, Thickfreakness and Rubber Factory, moving from gritty blues-rock and garage riffs to more developed songs, including a long run of albums with Danger Mouse (Attack & Release, Brothers, El Camino, Turn Blue). After a hiatus the band returned to a more direct approach on Let’s Rock, delved into Mississippi blues with Delta Kream, and has recently released Dropout Boogie and Ohio Players. Live, their playing remains compact and rhythmic, with repetitive patterns, mid-tempo grooves and a tight, stripped-down sound, sometimes supplemented by additional musicians.

Also on the bill: Robert Finley, from Bernice, Louisiana. For years he played on the streets and in gospel groups, until his debut album Age Don’t Mean a Thing drew widespread attention later in life. Since then he has worked regularly with Dan Auerbach, resulting in Goin’ Platinum, the autobiographical Sharecropper’s Son and Black Bayou, where blues meets southern soul, rock ’n’ roll, jazz and folk. With his weathered voice and matter-of-fact storytelling, Finley brings a blues that stays close to everyday life.
