Soba

Info

On May 21, 2026 at the Théâtre La Piscine - L'Azimut in Châtenay-Malabry, Soba brings together West African song and Mississippi blues in a single breath. Led by Burkinabé singer-guitarist Moussa Koita, French harmonica player Vincent Buchet and Congolese percussionist Émile Biayenda, the trio draws on shared roots to shape songs that cut straight to the point, between call-and-response, spare riffs and organic pulses.

The group addresses inequality, corruption and the nostalgia of exile, with clear songwriting and acoustic arrangements that let each timbre breathe. The harmonica slices through taut lines, the guitar unfolds West African motifs, and the percussion lays down supple polyrhythms that hold steady. On stage, Soba plays close to the voices and the bodies—a set where you follow the stories as much as the grooves, between dark ballads and luminous surges. Three journeys, one musical language: a contemporary blues that speaks here and now.
