Skinshape live Behind the Green Door

On 11 April 2026 Skinshape will appear as a five‑piece live band at Strom in Munich. Skinshape is the project of British musician and producer William Dorey, who mostly writes and records his pieces alone — with a penchant for warm, analogue tones and unfussy grooves. His sound links 1960s/70s funk and reggae with library music, psychedelic rock, influences from African music and folk. Smooth basslines, dry drums and hazy guitars form the framework, above which melodies float, leaving room for subtlety.

On stage the band draws from across the discography, presenting older tracks and new material in fresh arrangements. It’s less about retro and more about organic songs that breathe and stay in motion. Dorey was a founding member of Palace and runs his own reggae label, Horus Records — experiences that are reflected in his choice of sounds and production approach. A set for anyone who appreciates groove without kitsch, with a love of detail and a keen sense of timing.
