Fabulous Thunderbirds Livestream from Jimmy's Jazz and Blues Club

On February 21, 2026 at Jimmy’s Jazz & Blues Club in Portsmouth, The Fabulous Thunderbirds roll in with five decades of Texas-bred blues and blues rock. Formed in 1974 and steered by singer and harmonica player Kim Wilson, the band cut its teeth on shuffles and R&B grooves before breaking wider with albums like T-Bird Rhythm and the platinum Tuff Enuff, home to the title track and Wrap It Up. Along the way, they’ve racked up multiple Grammy and Blues Music Award nominations while keeping a tight, guitar-forward sound anchored by Wilson’s rough-edged voice and harmonica.

They’re marking their 50th anniversary with Struck Down, their first studio album in eight years, built around nine new songs co-written by Wilson and Hamilton bluesman Steve Strongman, plus a take on Memphis Minnie’s Nothing in Rambling. Produced by Wilson, Strongman and Glen Parrish, and mixed by Shelly Yakus, the record nods to their roots while bringing in friends like Billy Gibbons, Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’, Mick Fleetwood, Terrance Simien and Elvin Bishop. Onstage, the lineup features Kim Wilson with Johnny Moeller, Bob Welsh, Rudy Albin and Steve Kirsty, a setup tailored for lean riffs, harmonica breaks and that no-frills T-Birds swing.
