Madeleine Peyroux

Info

On April 14, 2026 at The Centre in Vancouver, Madeleine Peyroux revisits a repertoire shaped between the streets of Paris and American stages. Born in Athens, Georgia and raised between the US and France, she began singing with the Lost Wandering Blues and Jazz Band, a grounding that still informs her blend of vocal jazz, blues, folk and chanson. Her phrasing leaves room for the lyric, her tempos unhurried, keeping the focus on storytelling and the grain of the voice.

Since Dreamland (1996) introduced her to a wider audience, she has balanced original writing with reimagined songs by authors like Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan, a path continued on Careless Love (2004), Half the Perfect World (2006) and Bare Bones (2009). Later albums — Standing on the Rooftop, The Blue Room, Secular Hymns and Anthem — broaden the palette with collaborators from across American music.

On stage, Peyroux stitches these chapters into a close-knit set: standards reframed, her own compositions, and quiet grooves that lean into the text, drawing a clear line between early influences and her present-day songcraft.
