Info
Alan Doyle, the voice and songwriter behind Great Big Sea, brings his mix of Newfoundland folk roots and contemporary rock to Kelowna Community Theatre on March 27, 2026. Expect a set that moves between acoustic ballads, call-and-response songs and uptempo folk-rock, drawing on his solo albums Boy on Bridge, So Let’s Go, A Week at the Warehouse and the EPs Rough Side Out and Back to the Harbour, with room for favourites from his Great Big Sea years. Stories from the Atlantic coast, tight harmonies, bouzouki and guitar lines frame songs built around strong choruses and a steady pulse that keeps the room engaged.
Special guests The East Pointers open with their Prince Edward Island blend of Celtic Maritimes tradition and modern folk pop. Fiddle, banjo and guitar drive reels and jigs that slide naturally into contemporary songwriting, a balance they’ve shaped across Secret Victory, What We Leave Behind and Yours To Break. Now performing in a reconfigured lineup, they keep the dance-floor energy of their instrumental sets while folding in reflective songs about coastal life and family ties. It’s a concise snapshot of today’s Atlantic folk scene, from Doyle’s seasoned writing to the trio’s agile groove, all on one stage in Kelowna.
