Info

On March 8, 2026 at Longboat Hall in Toronto, Alejandro Escovedo brings a set that threads his punk beginnings and the rootsy songcraft that followed. Raised in San Antonio in a Mexican American family of musicians, he first tore through the late-70s with San Francisco punks The Nuns, then steered into twang, electric bite and border tones with Rank and File and the True Believers in Austin. His solo path since Gravity and Thirteen Years balances tough guitars and slow-burn ballads, often lifted by strings and stories of family, identity and the road. Albums like A Man Under the Influence, The Boxing Mirror and Real Animal map that arc; The Crossing digs into migration tales; Echo Dancing revisits and reshapes songs from across his catalog.

On stage he moves easily between electric punch and hushed acoustic space, letting the writing stay front and center. Expect fresh angles on older favorites alongside recent rewrites, played with the steadiness of a bandleader who treats memory as material and keeps the songs in motion.
