Ulrich Tukur & Die Rhythmus Boys

On 18 December 2026, Ulrich Tukur & Die Rhythmus Boys will perform at Music Hall Worpswede e.V. in Worpswede. The quartet led by actor and musician Ulrich Tukur is devoted to the dance and popular-entertainment sounds of the interwar years. Swing and early jazz meet foxtrot, tango, cabaret song and Schlager; compactly arranged and played acoustically, with harmonic choral parts, guitar counterpoints and a light, buoyant rhythm section. The band tells its songs rather than merely running through them: Tukur guides the pieces with song and performance, the Rhythmus Boys build the scenes, and together they create that theatrical moment familiar from cabaret and musical theatre.

The repertoire consists primarily of adaptations and arrangements of international standards and German-language titles from the 1920s to the 1940s, occasionally supplemented by original numbers in the same vein. Subtly ironic texts, salon-like atmospheres and danceable numbers alternate. Since their early theatre appearances the group has expanded its stage to concert halls and festivals in Germany, Austria and Switzerland—while retaining their affinity for acoustic ensemble sonority and a storytelling approach. In Worpswede the ensemble will present exactly this blend on stage.
