Info
Nouvelle Vague will bring their Parisian concept to the Seebühne Bremen on 5 August 2026, blending bossa nova, acoustic pop and lounge atmospheres on stage. The collective emerged in the early 2000s around arrangers Marc Collin and the late Olivier Libaux (who died in 2021): well-known songs from 1970s/80s punk, new wave and post-punk are pared down, stripped to their core and translated into light, rhythmic chansons. Central to the project are the rotating female singers—such as Camille or Mélanie Pain—whose voices carry the tonal shifts of the originals; live, the formation alternates between an intimate duo/trio feeling and a fuller lineup.
From their 2004 debut through Bande à part (2006) and 3 (2009) to Couleurs sur Paris (2010) and I Could Be Happy (2016), Nouvelle Vague has built a repertoire that reframes both Anglo and Francophone classics. Today Marc Collin continues the project, letting the rough edges of the source material meet gentle bossa pulses, dry guitars and relaxed percussion. In Bremen you can expect precisely this kind of transposition: familiar melodies newly accented, poised between flowing calm and subdued tension.
