Info
On 13 May 2026, Glen Hansard will perform at the TonHalle in Munich. The Dublin-born musician first made a name for himself as the founder and voice of The Frames before gaining international recognition with the independent film Once. The song "Falling Slowly" from the soundtrack won the Academy Award in 2008 and ushered in a new phase of his career. Since 2012 Hansard has pursued a solo path with albums such as Rhythm and Repose, Didn’t He Ramble and This Wild Willing, moving between folk, rock and delicate orchestral colours. He has also undertaken collaborations — for example with Eddie Vedder — and contributed to various projects and tribute evenings that demonstrate his versatility.
Live, Hansard brings these threads together into a concentrated set: intimate ballads alongside more driving moments, stories that continue to unfold within the songs, and arcs of tension that gently rise and fall. In Munich he will combine new pieces with earlier solo material and selected songs from the Frames era or from Once. Characteristic are his raw, warm voice, the acoustic guitar at the centre and a band that allows for dynamic range without obscuring the clarity of the songs. It promises an evening that seeks intimacy without pathos and puts the substance of his songs at the forefront.
