On May 20, 2026 at Le Hasard Ludique, Deary will present Birding, a debut album that refines their dreampop songwriting while hardening the instrumental framework. The London band exposes more direct lyrics, as thick guitars and reverb-drenched washes draw a clear line between deep shoegaze and ethereal indie. Birding questions our impact on the living world and offers a pause — a moment to refocus, to protect what is fragile, and to learn from our mistakes without pathos.
On stage, the delicate voice threads its way between misty guitars and slow rhythms, with louder build-ups that never overwhelm the melody. First revealed by Fairground and then by a self-titled EP, Deary has since explored darker, more nocturnal atmospheres with The Moth and Selene, confirming an aesthetic that is at once vaporous and precise. At Le Hasard Ludique, Birding will take on a more organic quality, positioned between low, smouldering tension, luminous breaths and memorable choruses — all without unnecessary effects, just the essentials.
