Info

Ottawa-born singer and songwriter Kathleen Edwards stands at the crossroads of folk, rock and alt-country, with tightly drawn stories and everyday characters at the center. After a self-released debut EP, Building 55 (1999), she broke through with Failer (2002/2003), then followed with Back to Me (2005) and Asking for Flowers (2008), shaping a sound where electric guitars, country shades and slow-burn ballads meet a plainspoken sense of melody. Voyageur (2012), co-produced with Justin Vernon, pushed her toward a wider indie-folk palette. She later stepped back from touring to open a café near Ottawa, before returning to the studio with Total Freedom (2020), reaffirming a direct, unadorned writing style.

On stage, Edwards moves with ease between intimate confessionals and more driving cuts, drawing on urban and rural imagery without fuss. Her sets typically pull across her catalog, from early favorites to newer songs, keeping the focus on narrative detail and lived-in melodies. Kathleen Edwards plays the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver on February 28, 2026.
