Info
Ratboys bring their Chicago indie rock to Lee’s Palace in Toronto on February 27, 2026, for the When the Sun Explodes Tour. Built around singer-guitarist Julia Steiner and guitarist Dave Sagan, the band grew from an intimate, guitar-folk project into a more assertive, full-band sound, blending melodic indie rock with traces of emo, power pop and a touch of alt-country. Their path runs through AOID (2015), which balanced slow-burning ballads and brighter riffs; GN (2017), where clean guitars and direct choruses met lyrics about memory, travel and everyday ties; Printer’s Devil (2020), tightening the arrangements and the pulse; and The Window (2023), shaped by years of constant touring.
On stage, Ratboys lean on Steiner’s distinct voice and interlocking guitars, shifting between drive and open space, energy and a light melancholy. A set that favors clarity, hooks and a steady dynamic, with the rhythm section anchoring the songs without fuss.
