Info
The Saxophones, a Californian duo formed by Alexi Erenkov and Alison Alderdice, will be at the Le Supersonic club in Paris on April 10, 2026. Their vaporous jazz crooning, tinged with ambient, takes shape on a fourth album, "No Time for Poetry", which quietly examines the times and their place within them. The record extends the drifting lightness of "To Be A Cloud" while allowing a low, smoldering tension to rise, without abandoning the quiet romanticism that runs through their songs.
On this project, the duo leans on Richard Laws, a regular collaborator on bass, synths and keyboards, and on multi-instrumentalist Frank Maston, who is also involved on the production side. The influences are embraced without pastiche, with an undercurrent of kinship to Leonard Cohen’s middle period, where irony and dystopia lend a darker, more political tone.
"No Time for Poetry" functions like a notebook of private and collective thoughts, a clear-eyed look at the surrounding haze. On stage, The Saxophones distill this material into crisp melodies, muted arrangements and voices that take their time, poised between lucid resignation and discreet hope.
