Info
On May 6, 2026, at La Sirène in La Rochelle, Fatoumata Diawara takes the stage with words in Bambara and a guitar that builds bridges between Mali and the world. Ivorian by birth, Malian at heart, singer, songwriter and actress, she transforms her trials into songs that speak to everyone: female genital mutilation (excision), forced marriage, and the self-imposed exile she chose at 19 to make her own way. Her clear, supple voice carries both the wounds and the celebration, and her groove draws you in effortlessly. Between Manding heritage and contemporary rhythms, she tells intimate stories, addresses society, and speaks of her double life as an artist and a mother, with a presence that seeks connection more than spectacle. On stage there is singing, dancing, listening.
Alongside her, OKALI completes the bill. A French artist, he joins the evening for a musical encounter centered on distinctive voices and shared stories.
