Les Négresses Vertes, formed in Paris in 1987, emerged from the punk movement and play an acoustic rock steeped in realist French chanson and Mediterranean music. Their debut album, Mlah, appeared in 1988 and carried them beyond national borders; by 1989 remixes were entering the UK charts. They went on to release three albums that shaped their discography: Famille Nombreuse (1991), Zigzague (1995) and Trabendo (1999). The band toured internationally until 2001, then reformed in 2018 and played nearly 350 shows through December 2024. In 2026, the road resumes.
Les Négresses Vertes will be at Interference Balma on 9 April 2026. On the bill is a set that mixes signature songs and rarer numbers, an acoustic sound driven by brass and lively rhythms, true to the band’s DNA. The concert fits into the continuity of a long-standing live career, combining collective energy, finely crafted lyrics and Mediterranean influences.
