Einsturzende Neubauten

On 10 April 2026, Einstürzende Neubauten return to Le Lieu Unique in Nantes. Born in Berlin in the early 1980s, the band led by Blixa Bargeld forges a path between rock, mechanical sounds and experimental music. Homemade instruments, sheets of metal, springs, motors, everyday objects struck, scraped and amplified, and a compositional approach that favors pulse and space. Bargeld’s voice alternates between spoken phrasing and taut singing, in both German and English, yielding lyrics that are at once concrete and elliptical. After a visit to the same venue in 2017, the group comes back with a set that spans its different periods, from recent compositions to foundational pieces. On stage, the workshop becomes an orchestra: hammers, blades, metal drums, guitars and electronics create crisp textures, dry off‑beats and drones that unfold without showiness. It’s an opportunity to witness the band at work, where every sonic gesture fits into a breathing rhythmic architecture, suspended between restrained tension and clarity.
