Info

“Lumière du Nord” presents a selection of Scandinavian and Dutch drawings from the Musée d'Orsay collections, highlighting the artistic richness of Northern Europe. Symbolist landscapes and domestic scenes reveal the diversity of 19th-century Northern European drawing.

This display underscores the museum's commitment to strengthening its collection of works by foreign artists. Recent acquisitions by Swedish and Dutch artists sit alongside works on paper that, in some cases, entered the national collections more than a century ago. Nordic symbolist landscapes, long absent from the drawings collection, help counterbalance the tranquil domestic scenes of Carl Larsson and Peder Severin Krøyer, and artists such as Carl Forsberg and Philippe Smit, little known during their lifetimes, find their place alongside these celebrated names.
