Info
On May 6, 2027, Herb Alpert brings Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass to The Glasshouse - International Centre for Music in Gateshead, with the kind of show that reminds you how much personality can live inside a single trumpet line. Built around Alpert’s instantly recognizable, melodic sound, this project blends Latin-tinged pop, brass-band color, and orchestral easy-listening swing in a way that feels both tight and playful.
Expect a set that nods to the classics that shaped the Tijuana Brass identity, from the early breakthrough “The Lonely Bull” to the era-defining “Whipped Cream & Other Delights,” where punchy arrangements and clean hooks do most of the talking. And because Alpert’s career never stayed in one lane, the concert can also drift toward his later jazz and light funk side, with room for smoother grooves like the “Rise” period. A night for anyone who likes instrumentals that keep it direct, warm, and sharply crafted.
