Info
Stereo MCs land in Amsterdam's Melkweg on May 6, 2027 for a new stop on their European Tour. The South London collective around Rob Birch and Nick Hallam has been known since the 1980s for a sound that fuses British hip hop with house, funk and soul, always with that club energy that truly comes alive in a live setting.
Expect a set that effortlessly shifts between rap and sung hooks, with plenty of room for groove and rhythm. The focus, naturally, is on their breakthrough period, with material from Connected (1992) as the backbone: tracks like 'Connected' and 'Step It Up' embody that typical tension between street and dancefloor. At the same time, this is a band that has continued to reinvent itself over the years, from later albums to their work as remixers for major names. On stage, Stereo MCs still feel like a tight-knit collective, augmented by longtime collaborator Cath Coffey, and built on a history that brings together dance music and band energy.
