On February 19, 2027, Thundermother lands at TivoliVredenburg in Utrecht with a set built around tight, punchy riffs, a boogie-driven groove, and that unpolished hard-rock vibe rooted in Australian hard rock of the 70s and 80s. With guitarist Filippa Nässil, the band deliberately stays close to its core: short, catchy refrains, edgy guitars and a direct vocal line. With the current quartet (Nässil, vocalist Linnéa Vikström, bassist Majsan Lindberg and drummer Joan Massing), the focus is on tempo and momentum, as you can hear on the recent records up to and including Dirty and Divine.
Bonafide kicks off with hard rock that crosses classic rock and blues rock: direct, dry, and built on riffs that land immediately. The Pontus Snibb project is built for the stage, with simple vocal lines and a playing style you feel more than you need explained. After years on the road and a stack of releases, the band sounds extra sharp and straightforward in this new power-trio phase, ideal as a warm-up for a no-nonsense evening.
