Skerryvore comes to Melkweg in Amsterdam on May 9, 2027, with their own blend of Scottish tradition and modern band energy. What began in the early 2000s on the Inner Hebrides around brothers Daniel and Martin Gillespie has grown into an ensemble that builds folk rock on the engine of bagpipes, accordion, and fiddle, powered by an electric rhythm section.
Live, the group switches effortlessly between instrumental sets that lean on reels and jigs and more song-oriented moments, as they have developed over the years on albums from West Coast Life to Tempus. Do not expect a museum piece, but a set in which Highland melodies and melodic rock interlock, with room for influences from pop, country, and Americana without losing the Celtic core. An evening for those who enjoy danceable folk that grooves hard and still pays attention to detail.
