On September 24, 2026, at Buxton Opera House in Buxton, Blancmange bring their long-running synth-pop project back to the stage, shaped these days by Neil Arthur. Born out of the UK new wave wave at the turn of the ’80s, the band built its identity on lean keyboard hooks, tight, danceable rhythms and melodies that flirt with Eastern-tinged colours without losing that cool British snap.
Expect a set that can move between eras without making a museum out of it: the early material that made their name sits naturally next to later records, where the writing turns more inward and the arrangements open up into sparer, more reflective electronic pop. Arthur’s approach has kept evolving since the project’s late-2000s return, mixing direct songs with moodier passages and instrumental turns. This Buxton date is a chance to hear that thread live, from classic new wave pulse to the more recent, stripped-back edge.
