On May 2, 2027 at Jazz Cafe in London, Mexican Institute of Sound lands with Camilo Lara at the controls, turning Mexican musical memory into a sharp, modern live set. A Grammy-winning producer and one of the key names behind Mexico’s electronic crossover, Lara builds his sound by colliding cumbia, mariachi and cha-cha-cha grooves with club-ready beats, samples and cut-up textures.
It’s a project born in the mid-2000s and shaped across records like Méjico Máxico, Piñata, Soy Sauce, Politico, Disco Popular and Distrito Federal, where party energy sits next to social commentary and heavier production. Beyond the stage, Lara’s fingerprints are all over pop culture too, from Coco to Narcos, Breaking Bad, and the Grand Theft Auto: East Los FM universe, plus collaborations with artists like Beck, Norah Jones, and the Beastie Boys.
DJ Gypsy Box opens the night, setting the pace before M.I.S. takes over.
