On May 6, 2027, Lambrini Girls will perform at De Melkweg in Amsterdam with their raw, contemporary punk from Brighton. With guitarist-vocalist Phoebe Lunny and bassist Lilly Macieira at the core, the band crafts short, direct songs that grab you by the throat: gritty guitars, a prominent bass, and shouted vocals that push the lyrics to the fore. Their sound leans on the heritage of riot grrrl and queercore, but mainly sounds like the present: fast, tight, and no-nonsense.
Live, Lambrini Girls operate with an open, collective dynamic, with rotating drummers giving each set a slightly different angle. Expect songs that collide and propel, with themes such as queer identity, gender relations, and everyday social tension. Following the EP Love Is a Weapon (2023, Big Scary Monsters), the band has continued touring across the British and European circuits; this evening in Amsterdam feels like a logical next stop.
