To celebrate, we’re bringing together the energy of a party, the power of live music, and the scale of a festival for one sunday at Longboat Hall.
Three distinct musical forces will take over Longboat Hall, performing from a stage in the middle of the room, as the dancefloor orbits around them.
From the centre, their music radiates outward, filling the room with energy, movement, and life.
Joe Claussell
For more than 30 years, he has been a defining force in NYC’s dance music culture. From Body & Soul with François K and Danny Krivit, his label Sacred Rhythm Music, and an extensive discography, he has spent a lifetime pushing house music beyond its boundaries, bringing together afro-latin rhythms, jazz, world music, disco, and soul into a sound that, once you hear it, feels unmistakably Joe.
Astral Riddims (live)
A Toronto-based spiritual jazz ensemble presenting their debut album, The Big Band Theory, live for the first time, expanded from their usual 5-piece into a 12-piece band of musicians and vocalists.
The album takes cues from Mingus’ controlled chaos and Sun Ra’s cosmic mythology, and is deep, expansive, and danceable.
Skratch Bastid (Brazilian set)
A one-off vinyl set from a turntablist, strictly playing Brazilian records, showing the rhythms and sounds that have made Brazil an important part of his musical world.
